Jest Improv's Stand Up 101 Program
Learn How to Write & Enhance Your Own Material!
Jest Improv is proud to present it's very own Stand Up 101 Comedy Program! This program is open to all skill levels, so whether you already have done open mics/shows before or you've never tried your own material, this program will help you find your comedic voice on stage!
Course Details
This course will be an introduction to the Jest Improv philosophy on stand up comedy, specifically finding your comedic voice. You will get the opportunity to learn how to write different styles of stand up, how to re-write and get notes back from your instructor to craft a well polished set. You will learn how to make your material work even better with joke structure and and craft the right punchline to land the joke even better. You will go over material with the instructor along with the class and we will all work together to make each other's sets amazing and polished.
You’ll also have the chance to test your material at Jest Improv's open mic, and by the end of the program, you’ll perform in a showcase to put all your hard work on display and show off your best material!
This course will take place at the Bunker Theater in Ventura (2750 East Main Street). This will be a 7-week course running on Thursday nights from 6-9 pm from October 2nd to November 13th. The showcase will be on November 14th @ 8 pm.

Chris has been involved in comedy for over 15 years and has been loving every minute of it! Chris has been performing comedy all over the country, including headlining for the very recent Conejo Comedy Festival! He has been with Jest Improv since 2022 and has performed standup, improv and sketch comedy in various venues in the Ventura County area.
Chris is very excited to bring his stand up comedy expertise to the incoming students of this program and to help them enhance their stand up comedy foundation!
