Dawn Balk

Dawn has been with JEST since its founding in 2018, and is currently a member of the teaching staff and the premier performing group, the JESTIES. She also directs and performs with Jest HERS, an all-women’s long-form performing troupe. Her improv training also includes completing several levels with Will Hines at WGIS in Los Angeles, and Sketch Writing through WGIS and JEST Improv.

Teaching improv was a natural progression for Dawn, who has been guest teaching in the Ventura Unified School District since 2021. With the intent to share the techniques and joy derived from practicing and performing improv, she has successfully taught youth and adults on many levels – from absolute beginners, to fellow teachers and premier performers.

Dawn is intent on endlessly spreading her Improv-inspired mania to guffawing audiences, and aspiring performers!
