Course Details
This course will be an introduction to the Jest Improv philosophy on sketch comedy, specifically using "the game" to write short comedic scenes. You will get the opportunity to learn how to write different styles of sketches, how to re-write and get notes back from your instructor to craft a well polished sketch. You will learn how to write with others and you will also learn to write solo sketches. You will write in class and also turn in sketches for notes and you will learn how to re-write. You will read sketches and pitch them to the instructor and the class and we will all work together to make each to the sketches amazing and polished.
Each week, the students will be exposed to different methods for turning funny ideas into even funnier sketches. Students will leave the class with a better understanding of various sketch comedy formats, a great foundation for their portfolio along with a showcase to show off their best material!

This course will take place at the Bunker Theater in Ventura (2750 East Main Street Unit B2). This will be an 8-week course running on Wednesday nights from 6:30-9 pm from July 3rd to August 21st. The showcase will be on August 24th @ 7 pm.
